Leasing/Financing a car?

Hi I'm a student living in Montreal and I am 18 years old. I've had my driving license for a year and a half now and would like to purchase a car. I was wondering if there was a way I can buy for example a 2004 Volvo s60 for 14000$ and put a down payment of about 5000$. I have had constant paychecks from a textile company where I work for 6 months now. Would it be possible for me to obtain my car by paying monthly without a co-signer? Or do I need to have built up my credit already? Thanks
