Color Matching for Prom?

Ok my girlfriend is wearing a "soft pastel baby green with soft gold lace" dress. I have a navy suit that I am going to wear. I want to match her dress with a white/green shirt and then a green tie. But in my head the combination seems kind of wierd (navy suit/green shirt+tie) I have hazel eyes + brown hair and have always been told I look good in green.
