Handlebar tape to sticky on my hands?

I have not encountered a situation exactly like this but one close to this. In my case the wrap started to tear and I wanted to make it last a bit longer so I left it as it was but added a layer of ellectrical tape to it. I think there are different collors of electrical tape. Hope this helps It did for me. Note: it lasted a long time.
